A Creative Life's Journey with artist, Peter Bogdanov
Over the years, Peter Bogdanov has been at the forefront of creating iconic artwork for some of rock & roll’s biggest names. One of the standout collaborations was with The Black Crowes, a band that dominated the airwaves and brought Southern rock back to the mainstream. Our silk screen business had the unique opportunity to produce custom drumhead art prints for them—an essential piece of the band’s live stage presence. Those bold designs didn’t just reflect the band’s sound, they became part of the visual identity that connected them to their fans.
As our reputation grew, so did our client list. Pete Townshend of The Who, a living legend in rock, commissioned us through his nonprofit organization HEAR, where we found ourselves alongside acts like Primus, Mermen and Big Brother & The Holding Company. Suddenly, we weren’t just creating art; we were contributing to movements, supporting musicians with causes larger than music itself.
It was a golden era to be in the business. Our work found its way into unexpected corners of culture—from the websites of radio giants like the Radio Kings show to Olympic athlete Picabo Street’s visual branding. The scope of our art was expanding faster than ever, and it was exhilarating.
As our portfolio evolved, so did the genres we were working with. Partnering with Asphodel Music, we dove deep into the world of DJ culture, crafting album covers for Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys, alongside several other cutting-edge acts on the label. The website we built for Asphodel was a vivid, avant-garde trip into the emerging trends of electronic music—a glimpse into the future of sound.
Meanwhile, we began making our mark within the rap community, managing the brand identities for a host of urban record labels, further embedding ourselves in the cultural fabric of the time. Despite working with world-renowned names, we remained dedicated to the grassroots rock art scenes in San Francisco and Portland, staying true to our creative roots. We were passionate about giving back to the communities that raised us, and that led to the creation of Urban Soul—a music studio and promotion platform that cemented our creative legacy.
At our core, we are artists first. Our greatest passion has always been to collaborate with other creators. Whether it’s album covers, concert posters, websites, or interactive media, we thrive on bringing artistic visions to life. Some of our fondest memories come from projects like Lavay Smith’s intimate show at John’s Grill, another long-time client. It’s these connections—these moments of art intersecting with music, performance, and culture—that make this journey so fulfilling.
Working alongside some of the most influential artists in music has been a lifelong thrill. Every project is a new opportunity to create something timeless, and we’re always ready to push boundaries and explore new artistic landscapes.
